First Days

Day 1
So on May 3rd I finally flew from buffalo to orlando. My flight landed at 1:10, about twenty five minutes ahead of schedule but getting out of that airport certainly took such a long time. I was totally fine until I got my luggage. Trying to cart all the luggage I brought around through a crowded airport of people that kept bumping into me was definitely a stuggle, especially on the escalator..I must have looked like I was in great pain because three people asked me if I needed help or wanted to take their cart but I kept on insisting I would be fine. It took me a while to find the Mears desk as I took a Mears shuttle from the airport to my apartment.
I stood in the humidity outside for about half an hour waiting for the shuttle (more waiting!) and then I finally got in. The shuttle also transported a few other girls, one of which lives in my apartment and another lives in the apartment across the hall from me.

When we arrived at Vista Way Apartments, the first thing that happened is we sat through a short presentation (yay air conditioning!) and got a booklet full of info about the program and a bag full of snacks. We also got our pre-assigned room and key. Myself and a girl that I came in with then headed to our new appartment located at the back of the Vista Way property (3305). Luckily the property is not too big but it houses 2500 cast members. We were the last to move in and I ended up in a room with its own bathroom. The only negative is that it is located behind the door so i am just waiting to get hit in the head.

My roommate is really nice. Her name is Hillary and is from UWO, here to be a lifeguard.

So after settling in and unpacking my stuff, we took our first bus ride over to walmart and ohhhh man was it ever a long ride. By bus, it takes 45 minutes to get to walmart but 15 minutes to get back. That was definitely a big pain, I felt like we were driving in circles.

I ended up crashing at around 8 pm last night, as everyone was just so exhausted and we had to be up for 8:45am.

Day 2
I would say my day began at 7am with the extremely loud noise of the lawn mower going outside. After waking up to this it was impossible to get back to sleep but i finally got out of bed at 8 and arrived at the presentation at either Chatham Square or the Commons at 9. i forget which one it was. But we sat there for the first hour just filling out a bunch of forms and then for the hour and a half after that we listening to presentations about housing and rules and stuff. It was mighty boring.

At 1130 we headed back to Vista Way to have lunch. Everyone that came in yesterday was assigned to Vista Way. The other housings are definitely MUCH nicer, i could not believe it but my housing is not that bad, though our building (building 33) is under contruction and they are redoing the roof.

So we had lunch and FINALLY got the internet working after many tries. At 1:30, i walked about ten steps to a building called "Pavillion" to fill out more forms and get my Vista Way id. I still need to get a lanyard to hold the card now. But at least no more carrying around my passport to show security, it can go in the safe:)
After this which took about fifteen minutes, a few girls and I went over to one of the two pools at Vista Way and had a nice swim. They have hot tubs here to but I could never imagine using them. It definitely never gets this hot in Canada.

But now I am prob going to head back to walmart to try and find an american cell phone, the bus comes every hour so i dont want to miss it and wait.
